WHAT IS FILETYPE / EXTENSION ?

I've uncompressed all the segments and used Split/Concat to join them into a single 704 MB file, but there is no file extension, and I can't seem to open it with any applcation. Also, adding ".avi" doesn't make the file any more usable. Can someone tell me what the filetype/extension is? The final uncompressed 704 MB file only shows up on the desktop as "nyslvr-sxncty" with a generic icon. I'm using a Mac., with OS X 10.4.11

MOD REPLY: NOW RENAME THE FILE TO "nyslvr-sxncty.RAR". THEN TRY EXTRACTING THE MOVIE USING RAR/ZIP.
